George Teague Signature

Biography

George Teague is a safety from the University of Alabama. Teague played nine seasons (1993-2001) in the NFL. Beginning his career with the Packers as a first round draft pick, Teague played for Green Bay from 1993-1995, Teague then moved on to the Dallas Cowboys in 1996, the Miami Dolphins through 1997 and then back to the Dallas Cowboys from 1998 - 2001. Teague finished out his career with two sacks and fifteen interceptions. In 1999, Teague intercepted three passes, returning two for touchdowns.

 

Teague is best known for “Defending The Star” against Terrell Owens in 2000. Teague was playing for the Cowboys at the time and Owens with the San Francisco 49ers. On September 24, 2000, after making a touchdown, Owens celebrated on the Cowboys' star at mid-field. When Owens scored his second touchdown of the game, Owens again ran to the Cowboys' star at mid-field to celebrate. Teague hit Owens from behind to knock him off the star.

 

To this day, Teague owns the record for the longest interception return for a touchdown in the playoffs with a 102-yard score.

 

Teague is now working as Athletic Director and as Head Football Coach at Carrollton Christian Academy in Carrollton, Texas.

 

Teague is married to Consuela, his high school sweetheart, and has two children - James, 16, and Jada, 10.
